Cleanrooms create a
contamination-free environment and can vary from small chambers, also
known as the microenvironments to very large rooms, popularly known as
ballrooms. These rooms are free from all kinds of impurities and are
ideal for manufacturing and assembling in technologically advanced
industries.
Important Factors to be Considered
A wide variety of important factors needs to be considered in order to
determine the type of cleanroom required for an application. Some of the
factors are:
- Cleanliness Category
- Fabrication Type
- Special features such as ESD control, pass throughs; and a
covering area.
Fabrication Style of Cleanrooms
Basically, there are five fabrication styles for cleanrooms:
- Conventional
- Modular hardwall
- Modular softwall
- Mini environment
- Micro environment
Among these, conventional style is most commonly used, and they are
permanent structures.
Application
This technology finds wide application in a number of industries. Some
of the popular industries are:
- Biotechnology
- Pharmaceuticals
- Aerospace
- Semiconductor Assembly
- Food
- Medical Equipment
- Hospitals
