An
impact test or
crash
test is a type of destructive testing commonly performed to assure
safe design standards for automobiles or related components. An
impact
tester or
crash tester is an equipment, which is used to
evaluate the aftermath of loose cargo impacts during motor vehicle
collisions, and the energy absorption properties of rubber materials.
There are several types of impact tests conducted on vehicles, which
includes:
- Frontal-Impact Tests: This generally include impacts on a
solid concrete wall at a specified speed or vehicle tests.
- Offset Tests: In this case, only a part of the front of
the car have an impacts with another vehicle or barrier.
- Side-Impact Tests: These test are used to test the impact
of side collision between two vehicles. They are deadliest types of
accidents. In this case, vehicles don't have a considerable
collapsing area in order to absorb the impact forces.
- Roll-over Tests: This includes testing a car's ability to
support itself in a dynamic impact.
Applications
Impact tester are widely used in the many fields. Some of its common
applications are:
- Automobile Industry
- Plastic Industry
- Metal Industry
