The
Dew Point Apparatus
is commonly used for determining vapor content of gaseous fuels by
measuring their dew point temperature.
Salient Features
- The apparatus has a sturdy construction.
- There is a closed stainless steel dew point chamber in the
instrument containing a highly polished stainless steel "target
mirror" along with sample inlet and outlet control valves.
- There is an arrangement for chilling the chamber by a
refrigerant, which flows through the outer cooling jacket, thereby
preventing any refrigerant contact with the test sample.
- There is a thermometer inserted into the mirror support
structure, which provides the temperature of the target mirror.
- The apparatus meets the standard test specifications.
Test Method
- The sample is first of all allowed to flow inside the dew point
chamber.
- As the sample flows in the chamber, it is deflected across the
surface of the mirror.
- Dew point of the sample is recorded as the temperature at which
condensation collects on the mirror.
- Measurement of the dew point temperature and computation of water
vapor content leads to the determination of vapor content of gaseous
fuels.
