The Sand pouring cylinder is mainly used to determine the dry density of fine and medium grained soil; and for layers not more than 50 cm thickness. It can also be used to determine compaction of soil. The instrument consists of three parts :

• Pouring cylinder
• Calibration container
• Metal tray

Specification

The sand pouring cylinder of 115 mm dia is fitted with a conical funnel and shutter of 3 liter capacity, a cylinder calibrating container 100mm dia x 150 mm height, metal tray 300 mm x 300 mm x 40 mm with 100 mm central hole.
