Sieve shakers are
manufactured to make the sieving process easy and fast. Both dry and wet
are available in the market.
Types
There are various types of shakers available depending on their use.
Some of the common types are :
Rotap Sieve Shaker
This apparatus is useful to make the sieving process simpler and
faster. It is constructed o0f durable materials and is run by 1/4 HP
electric motor through reduction gearbox. The equipment is designed to
carry upto 6-7 test sieves of 200 mm dia with one set lid and pan. The
equipment is suitable for operation on 230 volts AC supply single phase.
The equipment produces circular shaking of the sieves and the sieves
are tapped simultaneously. The mechanism for producing circular action
and tapping is motorized and is immersed in a tank with oil.
This is available with and without timer.
Gyratory Sieve Shaker
This is suitable for heavy materials, powders or granules. It is run by
1/4 HP electric motor through a reduction gear.
It can accommodate up to:
- 8 test sieves of 8" (200mm) dia x 2" (50mm) height with
one set of upper lid and bottom pan.
- 6 test sieves of 12" (300 mm) dia x 2" (50mm) height
with one set of upper lid and bottom pan.
Working Principle of Gyratory Sieve Shaker
Gyratory action involves upward and downward movement of the table.
Standard gyratory motion produce inclination from the vertical axis and
the direction of inclination changes continuously in the clockwise
direction. The sieve table rotates in 45-degree direction, which makes
each square inch of the sieve analysis possible. The whole gear
mechanism runs in oil bath made of stainless steel. It is necessary to
pour machine oil no. 40 up to level mark.
Table Sieve Shaker
This apparatus is widely used in research and development, quality
control of raw materials and production monitoring. This is available
only for dry sieving and is suitable for 4mm to 37 micron samples.
This type of shaker can accommodate maximum 6 sieve tubes upto 8"
(200 mm) dia x 2" (50mm) height with upper lid and bottom pan.
The entire unit of the apparatus is made up of heavy cast iron. It is
fitted with an electric motor. The motor induces an eccentric weight,
which in turn produces uniform motion on sieve table. The sieve table is
balanced and mounted on helical springs. The uniform vibration on sieve
table can be controlled by speed regulator. A mechanical timer is set to
monitor the required time for sieving analysis.
Variable vibration on sieve table can be adjusted by a variable speed
regulator.
Application
There can be used for various purposes and in various fields. Some of
its application area are :
- Fertilizers
- Soil Samples
- Ceramic Industry
- Coal
- Clay
- Minerals & Ores
